Buy USDT with naira in Nigeria

USDT is the dollar most Nigerians actually hold. On Yesa you buy it with naira at the rate on your screen, pay from your naira balance or by bank transfer, and it lands in your Yesa wallet a few minutes later.

What you are buying

USDT is a token that aims to hold one United States dollar.

It is the largest stablecoin and the one Nigerian markets price in, which is why it is the default way to hold dollars here without a domiciliary account. Its value does not track the naira, so what a thousand USDT is worth in naira changes with the exchange rate, not with a market rally.

If you are weighing it against USDC, the differences that matter are size, reporting and which networks are cheap: USDC vs USDT in Nigeria. This page explains how buying works on Yesa. It is not a view on whether to buy any coin, and nothing here is financial advice.

Buying USDT, step by step

01

Open Yesa and tap Buy

Buy sits on the home screen next to Sell. Choose what you want to buy from the list of coins.

02

Enter the naira amount

Type what you want to spend. The screen shows roughly how much USDT that buys and the rate per coin, along with the smallest and largest amount you can buy right now. Those limits move, so the screen is the one to trust.

03

Choose how to pay

Either from your Yesa naira balance, or by bank transfer from an account in your name.

04

Confirm

You confirm with your account password or your transaction PIN, whichever your app asks for. Nothing is charged until you transfer, and cancelling costs nothing.

05

Pay, if you chose bank transfer

Yesa shows you an account and an exact total. Send the exact total shown. A different amount is not processed, so type the figure rather than rounding it. Send from a bank account in your own name. A transfer from any other account is not accepted and goes back to that account within 24 working hours.

06

Watch it arrive

Your USDT lands in your Yesa wallet, a few minutes after a bank transfer and straight away when you paid from your naira balance. From there you can hold it, swap it, or sell it back to naira whenever you want.

After it arrives

The USDT sits in your Yesa wallet. You can hold it, swap it into another coin, or sell it back for naira at the payout rate shown on screen, which is published daily at today's USDT to naira rate.

People buy USDT for different reasons: holding value in dollars, paying someone abroad, or funding an account somewhere else. Yesa is the naira end of that, in both directions. The selling side is sell USDT for naira, and if you are comparing what different apps pay, how to compare USDT rates explains what to look at.

Buying USDT with naira: common questions

How do I buy USDT with naira in Nigeria?

Open Yesa, tap Buy, choose USDT, and type the naira amount. Pay from your Yesa naira balance or by bank transfer from an account in your name, confirm with your password or transaction PIN, and the USDT arrives in your Yesa wallet.

How much USDT will my naira buy?

The amount screen shows the rate per USDT and roughly what you get, before you confirm anything. On a bank transfer the final amount is fixed when your transfer arrives.

Can I buy USDT without P2P?

Yes, that is what this is. There is no counterparty to match with, no advert to pick and no chat to negotiate in. You buy from the app at the figure on your screen. The same is true in reverse: selling USDT without P2P.

What is the smallest amount of USDT I can buy?

The screen shows the live minimum and maximum as you type. Both move with the rate and with what the payment route allows that day.

Can I send the USDT to my own wallet?

The USDT is yours once it arrives. You can hold it in Yesa, swap it into another coin, or sell it back for naira, and sending on chain is available from the same wallet screen.

Why did my bank transfer not complete?

Almost always one of three things: it came from an account in someone else's name, the amount was rounded instead of exact, or the single use account had already stopped accepting transfers. Nothing is charged until you transfer, and cancelling costs nothing.

Is buying USDT legal in Nigeria?

Yes. Buying, holding and selling cryptocurrency is legal for individuals in Nigeria. Digital assets are recognised under the Investments and Securities Act 2025, and the Securities and Exchange Commission regulates digital asset services. Crypto is not legal tender, and profits from trading may be taxable, so keep your own records of what you buy and sell. This is general information rather than legal or tax advice; the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Central Bank of Nigeria publish the current position.
